Two Injured in IOF Drone Strike on Majdal Zoun, Southern Lebanon
Majdal Zoun, Lebanon – Two civilians were reportedly injured after an Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) drone launched a strike targeting the southern Lebanese town of Majdal Zoun on Wednesday. The incident is the latest escalation in ongoing tensions along the Lebanon-Israel border, raising fresh concerns over civilian safety in the volatile region.
Local sources confirmed that the drone strike occurred in the early afternoon, striking a specific location near residential areas. Emergency services responded quickly, evacuating the injured individuals to a nearby hospital.
Medical personnel stated that both victims are in stable condition and receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. Eyewitnesses described a loud explosion followed by a plume of smoke rising from the strike zone.
“It was terrifying. We heard the drone before it hit, and then there was a huge blast,” said one local resident, who asked to remain anonymous.
The attack caused minor damage to nearby buildings, but no fatalities have been reported so far. The IOF has not officially commented on the operation.
However, military analysts suggest the strike may have been aimed at suspected Hezbollah infrastructure or movements within the area, a common rationale cited in past cross-border actions. Lebanon’s government has condemned the strike, labeling it a violation of its sovereignty and a threat to regional stability.
Tensions between Israel and Hezbollah-aligned forces in southern Lebanon have sharply increased in recent months, with drone strikes and retaliatory shelling becoming more frequent. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has urged both sides to exercise restraint and prevent further civilian casualties.
This latest drone attack highlights the fragile nature of peace in the region and the growing risks faced by civilians in border communities. Human rights groups have called for independent investigations into such incidents and for international actors to step up efforts to de-escalate the conflict.
